It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Shlomo Golovenzitz zt”l. He was 83.

Rav Golovenzitz was a son of Rav Yitzchak and Mrs. Yehudit Golovenzitz.
During his youth, Rav Golovenzitz was educated in mosdos in Yerushalayim. When he came of age, he joined the Ponevezh Yeshiva and benefited from the rabbeim there, primarily Rav Shmuel Rozovsky.
Afterward, he learned at the Kfar Chassidim Yeshiva and became close to Rav Eliyahu Lopian.
During bein hazemanim, Rav Golovenzitz was involved in the activities of the Poalei Ha’avodah organization in Haifa and other areas. Through his efforts, he brought many Yidden closer to their heritage and helped establish Torah study centers.
He married his wife, Chava, daughter of Rav Zusha Waltner, head of the Otzar HaTorah institutions in Tangier, Morocco, and one of the distinguished talmidim of the Chofetz Chaim. After their marriage, they settled in Yerushalayim and Rav Golovenzitz became a talmid of Rav Berel Soloveitchik.
After the Six-Day War, he was called to serve as a rov in Antwerp, Belgium, where he taught Torah and instilled a love for learning in the young men there.
About forty years ago, he was appointed by Rav Chaim Kreiswirth as a rov with the Machzikei Hadas organization. He served as the head of the prestigious kashrus supervision system and supervised the city’s eruv, as well as the community’s mikvaos.
A special chapter in his life began about thirty-five years ago when his older brother, Rav Aharon Golovenzitz, encouraged him to write down his many chiddushim that he delivered in his shiurim. His seforim garnered haskamos from prominent rabbonim and gedolim.
