The IDF confirmed on Wednesday night the tragic loss of Sergeant First Class (res.) Eitan Ben Ami, a 22-year-old from Yerushalayim, who was killed in action in southern Lebanon when a building collapsed during combat operations.
Ben Ami served as a member of the Commando Brigade’s Maglan Reservist Unit, where his courage and commitment were widely recognized.
Reflecting on his character, MK Yitzchak Kroizer (Otzma Yehudit) shared: “Eitan was a determined and dedicated soldier who stood out with his bravery and contributing spirit which led him in every step. He was loved by his friends and appreciated by his commanders, he projected strength and calm even in the toughest times. I sent my deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
His death marked the 801st IDF casualty since the onset of the war and the 45th soldier lost in the ground campaign in Lebanon.
Earlier that day, the IDF announced the death of another reservist, Sergeant First Class (res.) Roi Sasson, a 21-year-old from Mevaseret Zion. Sasson, who served with the Kfir Brigade’s 90th “Nachshon” Battalion, was killed in combat in northern Gaza.
In the same confrontation that claimed Sasson’s life, Lt. Col. Yoel Glickman, the commander of the Kfir Brigade’s Nahshon Battalion, sustained severe injuries. Despite his condition, Lt. Col. Glickman attended Sasson’s funeral, arriving in a wheelchair to pay his respects and salute his fallen soldier.
