Emergency services were called to the Brachfeld neighborhood of Modiin Illit on Shabbos afternoon after a man stabbed his wife multiple times and then jumped from the porch of their 7th-floor apartment. MDA services received a report on Shabbos at 5:42 p.m. about a man who jumped from a building. MDA paramedics and police rushed to the scene and found the man, 40, in critical condition with multi-system trauma. They administered life-saving medical treatment at the scene and evacuated him to Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer, unconscious and attached to a respirator. Meanwhile, the police conducted a search in the building, Rechov Rabbi Akiva 28, and a 37-year-old woman was discovered in an apartment with multiple stab wounds. She was evacuated to Sheba Hospital in serious and unstable condition. Police and forensic investigators opened an investigation and preliminary findings indicate that it was an attempted murder-suicide, with the husband stabbing his wife multiple times before attempting suicide by jumping from the 7th-floor porch. “We’re unaware of any prior incidents of violence between the couple,” Tzachi Chalfon, the commander of the police department in Modiin Illit, told Reshet Bet. “This is the first incident. When we arrived at the apartment, the woman was unconscious. We’re gathering evidence at this stage. The couple does not have children.” The husband and wife are Russian olim who were chozer b’teshuvah, a Chareidim10 report said. (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)
