Another winter storm system will bring more snow, sleet and freezing rain to the New York City area tonight—with up to 5 inches of snow possible in the city.

Winter Storm Watch has been issued for all five boroughs and most of the Tri-State area through 11 a.m. Sunday. Alternate Side Parking will be suspended in NYC for snow removal.
A general 1 to 3 inches is expected in the city and nearby suburbs, including on Long Island, AccuWeather said, though accumulations of up to 5 inches are possible, according to the National Weather Service.

“Our DSNY heroes are going to be out there doing 12-hour tours removing the snow off our streets, but we have to do our part,” Mayor Eric Adams said in a PSA on social media. “Prior to hopping on that Super Bowl game, I need you to get out there and shovel that snow, make sure your sidewalks are clean, and please, [when] going to the bars and restaurants, take public transportation so the roads are clear.”
The heaviest snow is expected during the mid-evening before it mixes with and changes to sleet going into midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Parts of North Jersey may see 3 to 6 inches, while areas further north in the Hudson Valley and interior Connecticut could get over 6 inches.

“Good news is it’s a weekend, so God willing, we get a lot lighter traffic flow. I would say to folks if they don’t have to be out this is a good one to sit out, stay home tonight,” New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said live on 1010 WINS Saturday morning. “And God willing this will clear out by the morning and we’re going to be bracing for something, another one, early to mid-week.”
