It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of habochur Refoel Faham z”l, who was critically injured in the horrific car crash that occurred early Friday morning on the Lakewood-Jackson border and tragically claimed the lives of two other bochurim.
Refoel was a son of R’ Yaakov and Mrs. Sarah Faham of the Pine Street neighborhood in Lakewood.
Known for his refined middos, warm smile, and gentle demeanor, Refoel brought pride and nachas to his family and those who knew him.
The devastating accident occurred when a Toyota Sienna carrying five bochurim struck a deer on Hope Chapel Road. The impact caused the driver to lose control, leading the vehicle to crash into a tree and burst into flames. Two of the bochurim, Chaim Zelig Berl z”l and Dovid Yitzchok Handler z”l, were tragically killed on the scene. The surviving passengers, including Refoel, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, NJ.
Despite extensive medical efforts, Refoel succumbed to his injuries and was niftar shortly before Shabbos, leaving his family and community shattered.
