Former President Donald Trump expressed uncertainty about whether the Gaza ceasefire agreement and the accompanying hostage release deal would remain intact throughout all three stages.
“It’s not our war. It is their war. I am not confident. But I think they’re very weakened on the other side,” Trump stated when questioned by reporters during the signing of executive orders in the Oval Office.

Describing the state of Gaza, Trump likened it to “a massive demolition site” and suggested that it would need to be reconstructed differently after the 15-month-long conflict.
He also pointed out Gaza’s advantageous position along the Mediterranean Sea, calling it a “phenomenal location” with the “best weather.”
“Beautiful things could be done over there, fantastic things,” Trump remarked.
When asked whether he would play a role in Gaza’s reconstruction, Trump replied, “I might.”
Discussing the future governance of Gaza, Trump made it clear that Hamas could not remain in power, stating, “They didn’t exactly run it well” and noting that “most of them are dead.”
He reiterated his belief that the devastating October 7 attack would not have occurred if he were still president. Trump attributed this to the financial struggles Iran faced under his administration’s maximum pressure sanctions, saying, “Now they’re rich, but weakened in a different way.”
Highlighting Israeli military operations, Trump pointed to one mission that targeted Tehran’s air defense systems and another that caused the large-scale destruction of communication devices used by Hezbollah operatives in Lebanon. “The one attack by Israel really set them back,” Trump commented.
