It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of the Vizhnitzer Rebbetzin of Monsey, Rebbetzin Miriam Hager a”h, at the age of 72.
She was the devoted wife of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Monsey and endured a lengthy illness, battling multiple sclerosis for decades, with her condition worsening in recent months. Early this morning, surrounded by her loving family at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, she passed away.
Rebbetzin Miriam was born into a notable lineage of Torah luminaries as the daughter of Rav Eliezer Meisels, Uheler Rov and a descendant of the Shaarei Yosef of Dezh.
Raised in Chicago, where her father served as a rebbe and leader in the local kehillah, she learned early on the values of dedication to the Ribono Shel Olam and Klal Yisroel.
In 1969, she married her husband, the second son of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe of Monsey, Rav Mordechai Hager zt”l. They initially made their home in Chicago before settling in Monsey.
Throughout their marriage, Rebbetzin Miriam stood faithfully by her husband’s side, offering unwavering support in his avodas hakodesh.
She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who continue in her path.
Her sons are Rav Yaakov Yosef Hager, son-in-law of the Skverer Rebbe; Rav Dovid Dov Hager, son-in-law of the Shatzer Rebbe; Rav Chaim Meir Hager, son-in-law of the Faltishaner Rebbe of Bensonhurst; Rav Moshe Hager, son-in-law of the Biksader Rebbe; and Rav Menachem Mendel Hager, son-in-law of the Brizdovitzer Rebbe. Her daughters are married to Rav Naftoli Mordechai Teitelbaum, rov of the Kaliver kehillah of Chestnut Ridge and son of the Kaliver Rebbe, and Rav Yitzchok Yochonon Rotenberg, son of the Kossoner Rebbe.
The levaya will take place at noon, beginning at the Vilchovitz parking lot in Monsey and proceeding to the Vizhnitzer Bais Medrash at 25 Phyllis Terrace in Kaser, Monsey. From there, it will continue to the Vizhnitzer Bais Hachaim on Route 306 in Monsey for the kevurah.
Yehi zichro boruch.
