Former President Donald Trump has issued a challenge to President Joe Biden: an 18-hole golf match at Trump’s Doral course in south Florida. Trump made the offer at a rally on Tuesday, even offering to give Biden 10 strokes a side and donating $1 million to a charity of Biden’s choice if he were to lose. The challenge comes after a heated discussion about their golf handicaps during their June 2 debate in Atlanta. Trump, an avid golfer, questioned Biden’s claim of having a golf handicap of six, which Biden later corrected to an eight. Trump’s handicap has been recorded as low as 2.5. Biden’s spokesperson, James Singer, responded to the challenge, calling Trump’s offer “weird antics” and saying that Biden is too busy leading America and defending the free world to engage in a golf match. Singer also criticized Trump’s record on job creation, standing up to Putin, and following the law. Reigning U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau offered to host the golf match on his YouTube channel, saying “Let’s settle this whole handicap debate.” Trump owns several golf courses, including Doral, which has hosted the LIV championship, and his course in Bedminster, New Jersey, which has also hosted the Saudi-backed tour. The golf match, had it happened, would likely be a highly watched event, with Trump predicting it would be “among the most-watched sporting events in history.” (YWN World Headquarters – NYC)
