The Democratic Party’s internal fractures burst into public view Tuesday as co-hosts of ABC’s The View went to war — not with Republicans, but with two of their own: former President Barack Obama and billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban. With the 2026 election season heating up, the simmering tension between party elites and the Democratic base exploded on air. Whoopi Goldberg, Ana Navarro, and Sara Haines took direct aim at Obama and Cuban’s recent critiques of the party’s messaging. “Let me remind everybody who was out on the front lines marching — it was the people,” Goldberg declared. “They were not navel-gazing. It was older people fighting for Social Security, parents demanding rights for their children.

Fauja Singh, an Indian-born runner nicknamed the Turbaned Torpedo who was believed to be the world’s oldest marathon runner, has died after being hit by a car. He was 114. Local media in India reported that Singh sustained severe head injuries in a hit-and-run accident on Monday while he was crossing the road at his native village near Jalandhar in Punjab. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. His London-based running club and charity, Sikhs In The City, confirmed his death. India’s Prime minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Singh, saying he was “extraordinary because of his unique persona and the manner in which he inspired the youth of India on a very important topic of fitness.” Singh became the oldest man to run a full marathon in 2011 at the age of 100 in Toronto.

Jewish leaders in Europe have launched an emergency campaign to protect the right to perform brissim after police in Belgium reportedly launched criminal proceedings against certified mohelim in Antwerp after raiding their homes in May. The European Jewish Association (EJA) said that the raid, which included the seizure of medical equipment and a demand for mohelim to reveal the names of infants who had undergone brissim, was a serious violation of religious freedom and could establish a dangerous precedent. Over 50 Jewish leaders and Rabbanim across Europe signed a letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen accusing Belgian authorities of infringing on basic rights. “This evokes some of the darkest chapters in European history,” the letter stated.

Drones targeted oil fields in Iraq’s semi-autonomous northern Kurdish region Wednesday, the latest in a series of attacks in recent days that have put several oil facilities out of commission. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which have exacerbated tensions between the central government in Baghdad and Kurdish authorities. The Kurdish region’s anti-terrorism department said two drones attacked an oil field in the district of Zakho, causing damage but no injuries.

The Pentagon said Tuesday it is ending the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles, accounting for nearly half of the soldiers sent to the city to deal with protests over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown. Roughly 4,000 National Guard soldiers and 700 Marines have been in the city since early June. It wasn’t immediately clear what prompted the 60-day deployment to end suddenly, nor was it immediately clear how long the rest of the troops would stay in the region. In late June, the top military commander in charge of troops deployed to LA had asked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for 200 of them to be returned to wildfire fighting duty amid warnings from California Gov.
