A difficult tragedy occured last summer, when the choshuve yungerman, muflag in Torah and Yiras shomayim, Rabbi Eliyahu Kletzkin zt”l passed away at a young age, after having been purified through bitter and difficult travails, the physical and emotional pain of the dreaded disease, when he was only 42 years old.  CLICK HERE TO DONATE NOW The departed left behind a widow who bewails the husband of her youth and nine young orphans, with the youngest only 11 months old. During his lifetime, the niftar occupied himself with drawing close the hearts of the youth to our Father in Heaven, and he was successful in accomplishing wonderful things for bochurim that had veered from the straight path of Torah.

As coronavirus cases continue to appear in Israelis schools, the Health Ministry has developed a clear and organized policy to deal with coronavirus cases in schools. The schools are closed, those in contact with the confirmed patient are sent into quarantine, tests are carried out and at the end of the process, routine is restored. The ministry stressed that 99% of Israel’s schools are continuing their routine as usual, with 127 educational institutions out of 5,200 schools and about 20,000 pre-schools closed. A total of 17,497 students and staff members (out of 2.3 million students and 200,000 staff members) are in quarantine and there are 347 confirmed cases of the virus, 56% of which are from Jerusalem, of which 75% are from the Hebrew Gymnasium high school in Rechavia.

Jobs with state and city governments are usually a source of stability in the U.S. economy, but the financial devastation wrought by the coronavirus pandemic has forced cuts that will reduce public services — from schools to trash pickup. Even as the U.S. added some jobs in May, the number of people employed by federal, state and local governments dropped by 585,000. The overall job losses among public workers have reached more than 1.5 million since March, according to seasonally adjusted federal jobs data released Friday. The number of government employees is now the lowest it’s been since 2001, and most of the cuts are at the local level.

There is a wonderful mother of three who is in desperate need of help. Two of her children attend a local Orthodox day school in Los Angeles and the oldest is a graduate of Valley Torah High School. PLEASE HELP HER! The mother has custody of the children and is bereft with no one to turn to. There is a plan in place to relocate the family where they can get a fresh start and the cost of living is much more manageable. There are a number of Rabbis, educators, and therapists who are very familiar with the situation and can vouch for the urgency of the matter and the magnitude of the mitzvah. If we can raise $50,000, we can set this family on a solid foundation for success and allow them to be self-sufficient moving forward. The time to act is now.

Harav Berel Lazar, the Chief Rabbi of Russia, contracted the coronavirus and is hospitalized in a local hospital in Moscow. However, he is only having mild symptoms and is in good condition. “The Rav was hospitalized in order to be monitored in a hospital in Moscow due to mild symptoms of the coronavirus,” Rav Lazar’s office stated. “The Rav is scheduled to be released in two days. The Chief Rabbi’s office thanks the community for the tefillos and concern.” Last week, the Rav began to develop symptoms of the coronavirus and was transferred to a Moscow hospital on erev Shabbos. Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Rav Lazar had strictly adhered to all health regulations and has provided for the needs of the Jews in Russia during the coronavirus pandemic.

There are 17,783 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Israel as Sunday morning, with 31 new cases diagnosed overnight. The number of active cases rose to 2,836, with 29 in serious condition, of whom 23 are ventilated. There were two more deaths overnight, raising the death toll to 297. Health Ministry officials are extremely concerned about the continuous rise of coronavirus cases in Israel, saying that it may be the beginning of a second wave, according to a Yisrael Hayom report on Sunday. Dr. Sigal Sadetsky, head of the Health Ministry’s Public Health Services, told Reshet Bet over the weekend that the recent rise in coronavirus cases in Israel is disturbing and doesn’t bode well for the future.

The Kiryat Sanz community in Netanya was extremely cautious from the very beginning of the outbreak of the coronavirus in Israel, strictly adhering to all health ministry regulations without exception. Even when the Sanzer Rebbe‘s mother passed away, the levaya was attended by family only. The community’s caution paid off and not one member of the community was diagnosed with the virus – until now. Last week, an avreich in the community, which numbers about 750 families, tested positive for the virus, sending dozens of avreichim from his kollel into quarantine, and since then more and more cases have been diagnosed.
