Klal Yisroel has suffered a tremendous loss with the petirah of HaRav Moshe Gedalia Schwab zt”l, the Rosh Yeshiva of Degel HaTorah/Mesivta Maamar Mordechai in Monsey. The Rosh Yeshiva was niftar over Shabbos at NYU Hospital in Manhattan after battling illness for the past several years. HaRav Schwab zt”l was a son of “The Tzaddik of Monsey,” HaRav Mordechai Menachem Schwab zt”l, who had been the mashgiach at Mesivta Bais Shraga. Carrying forward the legacy of his father, the Rosh Yeshiva was known for his hasmadah, his fiery dedication to Torah, and his deep love for his talmidim. Under his leadership, his yeshiva flourished, producing bnei Torah who carried his teachings with them wherever they went.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Moshe Gedalia Schwab zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Degel HaTorah and Mesivta Maamar Mordechai in Monsey. He passed away after a battle with a dreaded illness.
Rav Moshe was a son of the Tzaddik of Monsey, Rav Mordechai Menachem Schwab zt”l, mashgiach of Mesivtah Bais Shraga.
He carried on the legacy of his illustrious father with dignity, while forging his own unique path in the world of chinuch and harbotzas haTorah.

As losses mount in lower federal courts, President Donald Trump has returned to a tactic that he employed at the Supreme Court with remarkable success in his first term. Three times in the past week, and six since Trump took office a little more than two months ago, the Justice Department has asked the conservative-majority high court to step into cases much earlier than usual. The administration’s use of the emergency appeals, or shadow docket, comes as it faces more than 130 lawsuits over the Republican president’s flurry of executive orders. Many of the lawsuits have been filed in liberal-leaning parts of the country as the court system becomes ground zero for pushback to his policies.

Three Uzbek nationals have been sentenced to death in the United Arab Emirates for the murder of Rabbi Zvi Kogan hy”d, a 28-year-old Chabad shliach in November 2024. The convicted individuals, identified as Olimpi Toirovich, 28, Makhmudjon Abdurakhim, 28, and Azizbek Kamlovich, 33, were arrested shortly after the murder in a coordinated operation involving Turkish intelligence and UAE authorities. The trio was apprehended in Istanbul, Turkey, and extradited to the UAE to face trial. Emirati officials confirmed the arrests in November 2024, releasing photographs of the suspects in custody and announcing the initiation of legal proceedings.

Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem delivered remarks this evening in observance of Al-Quds Day, which marks the final day of Ramadan.
“We need to set a limit to Israel’s attacks – a boundary which was crossed in an attack on the Dahieh area of Beirut for the first time since the ceasefire, and also attacks on a number of locations in southern Lebanon,” Qassem said. “We will not accept that this behavior of Israel’s will continue, and if Israel thinks that it will create a new equation in which it justifies by means of false justifications with a goal of killing, of entering various places, and with the goal of striking in Dahieh, in Beqaa, and in southern Lebanon – then we will oppose this, and the State of Lebanon must stop this.”
