Justice Department prosecutors have obtained an audio recording of former President Donald Trump from after he left office in which he talks about holding onto a classified Pentagon document related to a potential attack on Iran, according to media reports. CNN, which first reported on the tape, said Trump suggested on the recording that he wanted to share information from the document with others but that he knew there were limitations about his ability to declassify records after he left office. The comments on the recording, made in July 2021 at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, would seem to undercut the former president’s repeated claims that he declassified the documents he took with him from the White House to Mar-a-Lago, his Florida estate, after leaving office.

HaGaon HaRav Tzvi Yehudah Edelstein, the son of the Rosh Yeshivah, z’tl, and one of the Roshei Yeshivah of Yeshivas Orchos Ish, said during his hesped that his father regularly ate the leftover dry bread that no one else wanted. “Abba would mention minimizing taivah in many of his sichos,” HaRav Tzvi Yehudah said. “We saw him fulfill this regularly. He would drink tea – hot tea. He would say: ‘Sugar isn’t necessary. Tea without sugar is fine. It’s fine without the tea essence as well.’ That’s what he would call drinking tea – no tea and no sugar.” “I remember that at home there would always be leftover bread – the dry bread that the children didn’t want. He would regularly eat this – he would take only the leftovers.

Veering away from a default crisis, the House approved a debt ceiling and budget cuts package late Wednesday, as President Joe Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy assembled a bipartisan coalition of centrist Democrats and Republicans against fierce conservative blowback and progressive dissent. The hard-fought deal pleased few, but lawmakers assessed it was better than the alternative — a devastating economic upheaval if Congress failed to act. Tensions ran high throughout the day as hard-right Republicans refused the deal, while Democrats said “extremist” GOP views were risking a debt default as soon as next week. With the House vote of 314-117, the bill now heads to the Senate with passage expected by week’s end.

Despite widespread incidents of shoplifting and an increase in violence that has prompted many retailers to exit major cities across the country, one grocery chain is determined to keep its stores open and operational – but it’s losing the battle. Giant Food, which manages 165 supermarkets in D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware, has implemented various strategies to combat theft and maintain store safety, as reported by The Washington Post. These measures include limiting entrances, employing security guards, imposing item restrictions at self-checkout stands, reducing the presence of high-value items on shelves, and securing razor blades in containers that emit noise when opened.

Trump got himself on the receiving end of many conservatives’ ire after he went on a rant against his former White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, for sharing a poll that he didn’t like. “Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany just gave out the wrong poll numbers on FoxNews,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.“I am 34 points up on DeSanctimonious, not 25 up. While 25 is great, it’s not 34.” The word Trump appears to have been trying to use is milquetoast. While Manhattan Beach kollel yungerleit insist that milquetoast is a Shavuos delicacy, most assert that it is a term describing a timid or feeble person. “She knew the number was corrected upwards by the group that did the poll,” Trump continued ranting. “The RINOS & Globalists can have her.

The Biden administration just can’t seem to give up its obsession with forging a nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic, with its latest attempt taking place in Oman, Axios reported on Sunday. According to the report, President Biden’s senior Middle East adviser Brett McGurk made a secret trip to Oman earlier this month for talks on possible diplomatic “outreach” to Iran about its nuclear program. According to five US, Israeli and European officials, McGurk traveled to Muscat on May 8 following a visit to Saudi Arabia and Israel. “The Omanis are holding proximity talks between the U.S. and Iran,” a senior Israeli official told Axios, referring to talks carried out through a third party. The talks were confirmed by a senior European diplomat who said that the “U.S.

HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein, z’tl, served as the Ba’al Tokea at Yeshivas Ponevezh for over 70 years, including this past Rosh Hashanah. HaRav Gershon, zt’l, would only trust HaRav Tzvi Greineman, the son of HaGaon HaRav Meir Greineman, the nephew of the Chazon Ish, regarding the kashrus of the shofros. In recent years, he only used the shofros belonging to HaRav Tzvi and two of the shofros were on loan at HaRav Edelstein’s home. Less than two hours after the petirah, HaRav Tzvi received a phone from the Rosh Yeshivah’s family members inquiring about his whereabouts and informing him that his shofros would be immediately delivered to him.

Earlier this year, there were dozens of warning issued by doctors about an oncoming “tripledemic” – a massive wave of Covid, flu, and RSV that was expected to push hospitals to their capacity. Thankfully, the tripledemic never quite materialized, but another virus is wreaking havoc in hospitals and pediatric ICUs. The virus is the human metapneumovirus (HMPV), which can cause bronchitis and pneumonia.
