NYC Mayor Eric Adams shared a shocking video on Twitter showing the moment two robbers held up a mother and her baby at gunpoint in a NYC apartment building. “Mother and baby held at gun point during a recent robbery,” Adams tweeted. “And a small group of people in this city are asking why put an anti-gun unit in place.” Adams didn’t state when the incident had occurred or whether the perps had been apprehended. The NYC mayor launched the first of his anti-gun units two weeks ago across 28 areas where shootings increased during the pandemic. Adams’ move has been criticized by Public Advocate and gubernatorial candidate Jumaane Williams who said the anti-gun units would turn into a replica of previous anti-crime units that were dissolved in 2020. A collision involving as many as 40 vehicles closed a portion of Interstate 81 in Pennsylvania and sent more than a dozen people to area hospitals on Monday, according to the Schuylkill County Office of Emergency Management. The crash in northeast Pennsylvania happened around 10:30 a.m. and John Blickley, the deputy emergency management coordinator for the agency, said officials believe a snow squall clouded visibility and likely contributed to the accident. About 40 vehicles including multiple tractor trailers were involved in the initial crash, he said. No fatalities had been reported to the Schuylkill County agency, but Blickley said emergency personnel from four different counties responded and took about 20 patients to area hospitals for treatment.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is in Israel for a historic summit with Foreign Minister Yair Lapid along with their counterparts from Bahrain, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, held a joint press conference on Sunday with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in Jerusalem prior to the summit. Former VP Mike Pence noted that North Korea’s missile tests subsided during President Trump’s tenure and only resumed once Biden became president, adding that the president’s “message of capitulation” to Iran emboldened North Korea. North Korea on Thursday successfully tested its first intercontinental ballistic missile since 2017. The test was believed to be Hwasong-17 rocket, which has the ability to hit anywhere in the United States. During the test, it flew some 671 miles, reaching an altitude of 3,728 miles before landing in the Sea of Japan. “The fact that for the first time in more than four years Kim Jong Un fired an intercontinental ballistic missile that went into space and landed in the Sea of Japan is a great concern,” Pence said in a Fox News interview.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders went on a tear against billionaires blasting off to outer space while many Americans are struggling and living paycheck-to-paycheck. “Today, while the working class of this country is struggling with higher gas prices, higher food prices and higher housing prices, the billionaire class and large corporations are doing phenomenally well and have never had it so good,” Sanders said on the Senate floor. “In America today, while the average worker is making $44 a week less in inflation based dollars than he or she made nearly 50 years ago, corporate profits are at an all-time high and CEOs have seen huge increases in their compensation packages. We have never seen in this country the level of corporate greed that we are seeing right now.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday tried to soothe the fears of Israel and its Gulf Arab allies ahead of the possible renewal of global powers’ international nuclear deal with Iran. Blinken made the comments shortly before joining his counterparts from Israel and four Arab countries at a special gathering where the Iranian nuclear deal was expected to top the agenda. Israel and many of its neighbors are fiercely opposed to the deal, which they believe will embolden and enrich Iran. “When it comes to the most important element, we see eye-to-eye,” Blinken told a news conference with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid in Jerusalem.
