Greater New York Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome joined “The Story” Wednesday to discuss the direction of the movement in the wake of George Floyd’s death in police custody and the subsequent demonstrations across the country, many of which have sparked destruction and violence. “You … have said that violence is sometimes necessary in these situations,” host Martha MacCallum told Newsome. “What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?” “Wow, it’s interesting that you would pose that question like that,” Newsome responded, “because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what’s our diplomacy across the globe? “We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like.

Thanks to the fast response by Boro Park Shomrim, a suspect who smashed the windows of multiple Shuls and Jewish-owned businesses, was taken into custody early this morning. It began when Shomrim received a call on their hotline at around 4:30AM. The caller stated he had just witnessed a man throwing a rock through a storefront at 18th Avenue and 48th Street. Responding Shomrim volunteers canvassed the streets until they found a man on 18th Avenue and East 2nd Street matching the description of the suspect. The caller was brought to the area, and positively identified the suspect. The NYPD was called, and the man was taken into custody on Ocean Parkway and Avenue H.

The following is the back and forth between NYC Myor DeBlasio and reporters regarding the out-of-control fireworks plaguing NYC the past few weeks. Most note-worthy is the Mayor’s response to Veteran Hamodia reporter Reuvain Borchardt. Question from Julia of the NY Post: So first on the fireworks, I understand the importance of, of cutting off the supply at the root, but are police going to do anything to go out and potentially, maybe confiscate fireworks from those who are, are setting them off in neighborhoods and really causing the disruption and the danger to New Yorkers every night? Mayor: So, Julia, I’d say a couple of things.

A few hundred angry new Yorkers showed up to a “noisy” protest in Manhattan late Monday night, sending a “noise message” to Mayor DeBlasio. The residents are furious that DeBlasio has done nothing to stop the fireworks plaguing the city every night until 3-4 in the morning, preventing millions of New Yorkers from being able to sleep. In return, the protesters arrived in their vehicles and honked their horns outside Gracie Mansion, to give the Mayor a taste of what it feels like to not be able to sleep. One of the participants of the protest is NYC Councilmen Chaim Deutsch who gave the following message to YWN: “Tonight we will be sending a message to our Mayor, who has not shown any leadership.

Disturbing video has surfaced of NYPD officers choking a man unconscious, while using an illegal chokehold. The incident occurred in the Far Rockaway section of Queens. The NYPD released a short statement to YWN that reads: “We are aware of the video and there is an active investigation underway by the Internal Affairs Bureau. This matter is taken extremely seriously and we expect to have an update this evening as the investigation unfolds.” The New York City Council earlier this month passed legislation that made it a criminal offense for cops to use chokeholds. Meanwhile, a crowd has gathered tonight to protest in front of the 101 Precinct in Far Rockaway.

New Yorkers are having a hard time sleeping at night as the out-of-control fireworks are being shot off until 3-4 in the morning – with the NYPD doing absolutely nothing. In an audio clip from an NYPD Radio you can hear the following: NYPD RADIO DISPATCHER: “Female caller states she is uncomfortable walking home, states it is a WARZONE. A combination of fireworks and gunshots”. NYPD OFFICER RESPONDS: “Welcome to NY”. NYOPD RADIO DISPATCHER: “Tell me about it”. Viral videos on social media show the fireworks going off at all hours of the night, with the NYPD doing absolutely nothing. In one video, police cars drive past a group of thugs who were shooting fireworks aimed at the patrol car.

Supporters of President Donald Trump filled the streets Saturday around the Tulsa stadium where the president will hold his first rally in months, ready to welcome him back to the campaign trail despite warnings from health officials about the coronavirus and the possibility of conflicts with protesters. The crowd filtered into the 19,000-seat BOK Center for what is expected to be the biggest indoor event the country has seen since restrictions to prevent the COVID-19 virus began in March. Trump had been expected to speak at an outdoor event within a perimeter of tall metal barriers around the BOK Center, but that appearance was abruptly canceled.

One person was reportedly killed in a serious crash on Route 17, Friday afternoon. It happened at around 12:30PM on Route 17 Westbound between Exit 116 an Exit 117, when a vehicle overturned and erupted into flames. Emergency personally from multiple agencies including Catskill Hatzolah were on the scene. A chopper landed on the highway to airlift at least one person from the wreck. Tragically, sources confirm to YWN that one victim has been pronounced dead. It was unknown how many other victims were being treated for injuries. As of 1:40PM, the eastbound direction was reopened. Westbound will be shut for some time – expect heavy delays in the area, and alternate routes should be utilized. The cause of the crash was under investigation by the NY State Police.
