Michael Shemesh, the Israeli political correspondent for Kan News Agency, made a Kiddush Hashem on a live broadcast after his Yarmulka blew off in front of the White House while he was giving a report. Shemesh was surprised when, in the middle of the live interview, a strong gust of wind picked his Yarmulka up off of his head and flung it a few dozen feet away. Thousands of Palestinians are protesting in Gaza City following the announcement of the Trump administration’s peace plan. The protesters burned pictures of President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and raised a banner reading “Palestine is not for sale.” During the rally, Gaza’s Hamas rulers expressed rare support for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of the rival Fatah movement, welcoming his call for a broad meeting of Palestinian factions. A senior Hamas official says the group rejects the “conspiracies” announced by the U.S. and Israel and that “all options are open” in responding. Khalil al-Hayya spoke shortly after President Donald Trump announced a Mideast peace plan that favors Israel.

U.S. officials say President Donald Trump’s long-awaited Middle East peace plan calls for the creation of a State of Palestine with its capital in portions of east Jerusalem, ending speculation as to whether his administration, in preparing a proposal without input from Palestinian leaders, would abandon a “two-state resolution” to the conflict. The officials say the plan to be unveiled on Tuesday more than doubles the territory currently under Palestinian control, although it also recognizes Israeli sovereignty over major settlement blocs in the West Bank, something to which the Palestinians will almost certainly object.

It’s a prayer of passion. Of feeling. And of yearning. Vezakeini. A woman stands in front of the flickering candles on Erev Shabbos, slowly reciting the words, one by one, a prayer from her heart. For her children. For children she hasn’t merited yet, as she yearns to raise progeny of her own. Or for the children she’s been blessed with, beseeching Hashem that they grow in the way of Torah. This special prayer, recited every Friday evening across the globe, unite women from across the Jewish world, bringing together mothers and mothers-to-be iy”H in special harmony. Celebrating this unity, Bonei Olam reached out to the best and brightest in the field of Jewish music to produce a song that would depict the special feelings of Vezakeini. Watch, listen, and be inspired.

Standing alongside Netanyahu, Trump says his peace plan – already rejected by the Palestinians – has a “chance” and will be unveiled tomorrow at noon local time. Trump predicts that the Palestinians will “ultimately” come round to giving their support. He adds that without the Palestinians “we won’t do the deal, and that’s okay. Life goes on,” without elaborating. Unsourced Israeli reports in recent days said that should the Palestinians persist in rejecting the deal, Israel will eventually be given a go-ahead from the US to begin unilateral steps, including the annexation of parts of the West Bank.
