IDF soldiers spotted three suspects on Tuesday night who had crossed the Gaza border fence and entered Israel near Kibbutz Kissufim. The soldiers immediately surrounded the area and began searching for the suspects who began throwing grenades at them. The soldiers opened fire and killed the terrorists. Following the incident, IDF forces carried out extensive searches of the area, including the use of aerial surveillance, to ensure that no other active terrorists were in the area. The incident follows numerous incidents of terror balloons launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel in the past week as well as four mortar shells that were reportedly launched by Islamic Jihad last Wednesday.

French President Emmanuel Macron angrily shouted at Israeli police while visiting the Church of Saint Anne on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem’s Old City, which is French territory. It is not clear why he became angry with the Israeli security officials. although there is no confirmation what caused his outburst, it is possible that the Church is reportedly French territory where Israeli police do not have jurisdiction. In 1996, French President Jacques Chirac grabbed an Israeli plainclothes security officer in the Old City of Jerusalem and shouted: “I’m starting to be fed up with this. What do you want? Do you want me to go back to my plane and go back to France? This is a provocation. It must stop.” (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)

A month-long Border Police intelligence operation ended on Monday night when suspects broke into a parrot habitat in Migdal Ha’Emek and stole dozens of parrots worth about NIS 1 million, BeChadrei Chareidim reported. “Within a few moments of the suspects arriving in the habitat they were already on their way out. At first we were sure that they hadn’t managed to steal anything but when we stopped them, we found cages with dozens of screeching parrots in the back of the truck. Some of the parrots [were screeching] due to fear and panic and some as a result of severe injuries – broken legs, beaks and wings which were apparently caused by the cages being hurriedly thrown into the truck and by the shaking of the truck as they drove,” the Border Police operations commander said.

Jerusalem mayor Moshe Leon addressed the huge crowd on Monday night at the Menorah Arena in Tel Aviv for the Siyum H’Shas celebration attended by Hagaon Harav Chaim Kanievsky, Roshei Yeshivahs and Chassidish Rebbes. A passenger on a recent flight tells YWN about the extremely disturbing experience she had with LOT Polish Airlines from JFK to Israel with a stopover in Poland. The woman said that she was so horrified by what she saw that she wouldn’t have believed it if she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes. “Mrs. B”. said that the first leg of her flight – from JFK to Poland – was completely fine. The problems started when the passengers began checking in for the final leg of the flight from Poland to Tel Aviv. Every single non-Jew [and presumably Jews that weren’t obviously Jewish] were allowed on the plane with their hand luggage, without being required to hand it over to be checked or weighed.

A fast-moving five-alarm fire severely damaged six row houses in Staten Island on Monday, displacing more than 30 people and causing minor injuries. John Sudnik, chief of the Fire Department of New York, said wood construction in the attics of the connected houses allowed flames to spread quickly through the roofs. Firefighters found “heavy fire” coming from one of the three-story buildings when they arrived just before 3 p.m., Sudnik said. It had spread to the adjacent homes before being brought under control two hours later. More than 200 firefighters and other emergency workers responded to the scene, where flames licked through holes in the roofs and heavy smoke rolled across multiple row houses in the residential neighborhood.

A scammer is on the loose in Boro Park, and Shomrim are warning the community to be vigilant and not fall prey. The individual seen in the attached flyer and video sits inside his car and when cars pass by he smacks their mirrors causing a loud noise and frightening the drivers. He then comes out and tells his victims that they struck his hand. Many times he has his hand wrapped in a scarf or towel. He then threatens to call police and go through your insurance (or lawsuits) if you don’t pay him cash. he usually asks for $450 or $500. Boro Park Shomrim tells YWN that there are so far more than a dozen victims that they are aware about. He has been doing this on many streets including 41st, 57th, Fort Hamilton Parkway, 16th Avenue and other areas all around Boro Park.

After 36 hours of snowfall, Canadians are saying that there is just “too much snow.” The snow was so high, it blocked most residents’ doors and garages. In the attached videos, doorbell camera captures a lapsed video showing a home in St. Johns being buried under the heavy snowfall. People in that city had to dig out their yards after a record 76.2 centimeters fell. There have been no reports of injuries, though some had to be evacuated from their homes in the outer area of St. John’s because of an avalanche. A state of emergency remains in effect for St. John’s, with winds still howling at more than 90 kilometers an hour. The premier of Newfoundland has formally asked the federal government for assistance, including mobilizing the armed forces.
