The Talmud (Yoma 22b) teaches us that Jews may only be counted in the fulfillment of a mitzvah.  Therefore, King David was harshly punished for ordering a census, “so that I may know the number of the people” (Shmuel II 24:2) but not when doing so for waging a required war.  (Shmuel II 18:1)

Wednesday, May 22 seemed like any other day in Bnos Bais Yaakov of Far Rockaway, as hundreds of happy, enthusiastic students entered the building. Teachers relayed timeless messages with their usual passion. Smiling girls studied chumash, navi, and parashah, played jump rope and machanayim, and chatted with friends.

Focusing on Social Services in our Community
A total of five Lakewood organizations were recipients of grants awarded by the WellCare Health Plans of New Jersey, Inc. Community Connections program. The grants were bequeathed to entities who play prominent roles in the social services network that supports overall community health and wellness. 
Two of the awardees are famously known to Lakewood residents by their acronyms: LRRC and LCSC. Ironically, this sometimes leads to confusion between the two entities. However, although both share the altruistic goal of making crucial services available to Ocean County residents, the two organizations are actually quite distinct.

The ever-increasing number of stray dogs on Har Hazeisim has prompted the International Committee for Har Hazeisim (ICHH) to appeal to the Jerusalem Municipality to intervene. Jeff Daube, the co-chairman of the ICHH Israel Chapter has reached out to Councilman Don Ilouz (Hitorarut Party) to take action against the dogs who may pose a threat to mourners and visitors who come to Har Hazeisim. Mr. Ilouz informed Mr. Daube that he had reached out to the City Council and to Mayor Moshe Lion to tackle the stray dog problem.

Two top-dollar fundraisers set to take place Friday in the Hamptons are reportedly expected to raise an estimated $10 million for President Trump’s reelection campaign and the GOP.
Republican officials told The Washington Post on Thursday that the fundraisers are expected to go on as planned, despite facing backlash, and Trump is set to make an appearance.
According to the Post, several senior officials within the Trump administration, campaign and GOP are scheduled to attend the fundraisers. Members of Trump’s family are also reportedly scheduled to attend.
