Last night, an asifa was held at Beth Medrash Govoah in Lakewood, NJ, drawing a large crowd in the yeshiva’s dining room.
The focus of the asifa was the current World Zionist Organization elections and specifically the Eretz HaKodesh chareidi slate.
Speakers at the event were Rav Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoha, Rav Aharon Feldman, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Ner Yisroel in Baltimore, and Rav Yisroel Neuman, rosh yeshiva of Beth Medrash Govoah.
The speakers spoke out against participating in the WZO elections, citing a decades-long tradition of gedolim who were against doing so. Rav Dov Landau, rosh yeshivas Slabodka, is among the contemporary gedolim who have voiced their stance against participating in the WZO election.
Rav Aharon Feldman, in his remarks, critiqued the opinions of senior gedolim who have come out in support of the Eretz HaKodesh party and also criticized the frum media for not reporting properly on the topic and for promoting the Eretz HaKodesh campaign.
