It wasn’t like Oriya to be late.   Professor Rina Mizrachi was in the middle of explaining the often-misconstrued difference between psychotherapy and behaviour therapy when a student hurried into the classroom and grabbed the last desk available. When she saw who it was, Rina was surprised. Even though the shy ultra-Orthodox girl was just a few weeks before her wedding, Oriya was still Oriya– Conscientious, driven, and always responsible.    But ever since a few days ago, something seemed…off.    When Rina looked at Oriya’s face, she could see that the girl was on the verge of tears, and when she gently approached her after class to see what was wrong, she was almost brought to tears herself.   Oriya explained that when she was eleven years old, her father suddenly died after a stroke. The pain was immense for the entire family, and she explained that her mother struggled to raise eight kids on her own. Then, another tragedy happened when her mother got sick as well. With her father gone and her mother in the hospital, Oriya was planning her wedding all on her own. She had noone to help her prepare for the wedding or to help her with the most basic expenses.     With her professor’s encouragement, Oriya has posted her story on thechesedfund where she shares a heartbreaking letter from her mother. She has noone in the world to help her get married and is hoping that donors will have rachmanus on her and help her out.
