[COMMUNICATED]
Neighbors and friends were shocked last Saturday to hear of the passing of young mother of 7 Mrs. Yehudis Timsit. Yehudis had gone to lie down after suddenly not feeling well last week. When her children came in to check on her hours later, she had suffered a heart attack and died.
Many came to pay respects at the shiva. What shook them most, however, was not the disturbing sight of a group of small children mourning. Instead it was the conditions in which they were living. Despite the current heat wave, the Timsit family had only one broken air conditioner. The kids’ hair was stuck to the sweat on their faces. No one had known they were so poor – When their mother was alive they had been happy and well taken care of. Now, in her absence, their struggle became unbearable.
Neighbors from the Timsits’ community banded together to raise money to get proper air conditioning into the apartment. Members of the community say, however, that the Timsits need much more help. Mr. Timsit’s income is not enough to cover their basic bills, and the teenage siblings are busy running the house and looking after their younger siblings while their father works. They are desperately in need of basics like clothing, school supplies, groceries, insurance, transportation, and tuition. Daughter Bracha has reportedly offered to drop out of high school to get a job.
Money is being raised to help provide the Timsit kids with some security, so that they can continue to have relatively normal childhoods, despite their painful loss.
