In a joint letter signed by three prominent rabbonim, Rav Shmuel Fuerst, Rov of Agudas Yisrael of Peterson Park, Chicago, IL, and Dayan of Agudath Israel of Illinois; Rav Gershon Bess, Rov of Congregation Kehilas Yaakov, Los Angeles; and Rav Menachem Greenblatt, Rov of Agudas Yisrael of St. Louis, the Torah-observant community is called to action in the face of growing liberal and reform influences on Jewish life in Eretz Yisroel.
The letter expresses grave concern over the influence of the World Zionist Organization (WZO) and Israel’s National Institutions, which, the rabbonim explain, have been taken over by the reform and liberal left in Israel. These institutions, with budgets exceeding one billion dollars, are using their vast resources to undermine traditional family values and promote “progressive” versions of Judaism.
The rabbonim state, “It is therefore imperative to counteract their harmful activities and to ensure that the views and needs of the Torah-observant community are represented in these institutions. Likewise, it is critical that the reform and liberal agenda is not misrepresented as the voice of Diaspora Jewry. For this reason, Torah-observant Jews must take action by voting for and supporting the success of the Eretz HaKodesh party in the current WZO elections. This effort is essential in strengthening kevod Shomayim and preserving the kedusha of Eretz Yisroel.”
At the end of the letter, Rav Boruch Hirschfeld, Rosh Kollel in Cleveland, added his voice to the call, stating, “Having seen the haskama of Moreinu HaRav Chaim Kanievsky zt”l and having seen the letter of HaRav Avrohom Gurwicz shlita of Yeshiva Gateshead, and having heard that HaRav Asher Weiss shlita and HaRav Yitzchok Berkowitz shlita encourage everyone to vote, I too add my bracha to Eretz HaKodesh.”
