In the tradition of the age-old minhag, HaGaon HaRav Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi banged on the shtender on Rosh Chodesh Elul and yelled out E-L-U-L! HaRav Ezrachi is the Rosh Yeshivah of Ateres Yisrael, located in Modiin Illit.
