It was a typical Monday morning in the Wishinsky home. Chedva quickly scrambled up some eggs for Ayala and Yosef, tossed sandwiches into their school bags, and gave them a quick kiss on the cheek before sending them off to school and then hurrying to catch the Egged bus to make it to her own job on time. Chedva Wishinsky has been a single mother for four years now, so even if she gets sick, taking off work is never an option in her world. Not if she wants to keep her gorgeous children fed and pay rent for the tiny one-room studio in Ramot that they have called home for the past four years.
But when she came home from work that afternoon, Chedva noticed a horrifying letter on the peeling front door–
An eviction notice.
And that’s when she collapsed onto the ground.
“I work overtime at my job, but it’s still very hard to pay for the mere basics on one income, like groceries and rent,” shared Chedva in her shocked state.
“I really struggled to pay rent the past few months. Then, today I came home to a horrifying letter on the door– An eviction notice. As a parent, I am now facing a harrowing choice– Food…or shelter?…If we will be evicted then I don’t know what we will do. My children need a home. All they have is me to rely on.”
Chedva is facing a horrifying predicament , one that no single parent should ever have to face alone. If she doesn’t come up with funds soon, the landlord will carry through with the eviction, leaving her and her children stranded in February.  Emergency funds are being collected by the Vaad HaRabbanim to help this struggling mother pay back her debts so she and her children can keep the one place they have to call home.
