President Donald Trump’s administration is reportedly preparing to deport migrants to Libya, marking what could be the first such move under his immigration policy, according to three American officials who spoke Tuesday. This effort comes despite previous U.S. criticism of Libya’s treatment of detainees.
Two of the officials said that military aircraft could be used to transfer the migrants to Libya as early as Wednesday, although they emphasized that the final decision had not yet been made and could shift.
When asked for clarification, the Pentagon redirected all inquiries to the White House. Attempts to obtain a response from the White House, the State Department, and the Department of Homeland Security went unanswered.
