Dear Matzav Inbox,
Thanks for this platform. The letters you share and the topics addressed here seem to be ones that are issues that really lie at the core of our frum community. Thank you.
It’s high time someone spoke up about something that’s been bothering me for a while. Just as we are super careful about what we eat, making sure it’s all under proper hashgacha, we’re sorely lacking when it comes to what’s coming into our minds and hearts through the screens in our homes and in our hands.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.comreports the petirah of Rav Shmuel Raber zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Otzar HaTorah in Yerushalayim.
Rav Raber, who dedicated his life to teaching Torah and guiding thousands of talmidim, passed away at the age of 74 after a prolonged illness.
Rav Raber was a son of Rav Avraham Aba Raber and Mrs. Rachel Haber. He attended the Yeshiva of Kfar Chassidim, where he quickly gained the respect of his rabbeim, particularly Rav Eliyahu Lopian and Rav Mishkovsky.

Rabbi Avraham Noach and Devora Paley have celebrated the birth of a son, their second son born after the tragic deaths of their children, Menachem and Yaakov Yisrael Paley in the vehicular terror attack on Erev Shabbos Parshas Yisro at a bus stop in the Ramot neighborhood.
Just last week, the family celebrated the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Moishe, who survived the attack. Moishe was a meter away from Rav Alter Shlomo Lederman, who was murdered.
Additionally, the Paley family recently announced the engagement of their eldest daughter to Shloimy Steinharter, a talmid at Yeshiva Bais Mattisyahu.
Reb Avraham Nachum Paley, who miraculously survived the attack and has since recovered b’siyata diShmaya, serves as a Rosh Kollel in Ramot.

Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has managed to elude targeted assassination attempts for nearly a year by utilizing a basic communication system, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal published on Monday.
The article states that ever since the October 7 attacks, which were carried out under Sinwar’s orders, he has deliberately avoided using phones, text messages, or any form of digital communication to prevent Israeli forces from pinpointing his location.

Former President Donald Trump, well-known for his strong support among Orthodox Jews, is set to visit the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn this Thursday, according to sources.
The visit is expected to include a stop at the iconic Gottlieb’s Restaurant, the kosher establishment located on Roebling Street that has long been a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
Secret Service agents have reportedly already begun preparations in the area, working diligently to ensure the former president’s security during the visit.
Streets around the restaurant and nearby intersections are expected to be closely monitored, with local law enforcement coordinating efforts to manage crowds and minimize disruption to the neighborhood’s daily routine.

Over the past few months, Siddurim at the Kosel have been vandalized with messages calling for the destruction of the state of Israel. It is not yet known who the vandals are.
One message found in a Siddur read: “The land of Israel is holy, the people of Israel are holy, the State of Israel must be erased.”
Another read: “The Devil’s state will be erased for eternity.”
At least 12 Siddurim have been vandalized with these types of messages, as well as pages containing Tefillos for chayalim and the State of Israel being torn out.

The Tesla Model S driven by the family veered off the northbound lanes of the Parkway in Woodbridge, near the Metropark exit, and collided with a road sign, guardrail, and a concrete bridge pillar, according to State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan.
David Dryerman, 54, who was behind the wheel, along with his wife Michelle Dryerman, also 54, and their daughter Brooke Dryerman, 17, were all pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Authorities are still working to determine the cause of the accident.

Dear Matzav Inbox,
As we make our way through the month of Elul and get ready for the Yomim Noraim, I have to ask, and forgive me please for doing so: Is it really the right way to spend our time during this holy season by going to a mixed seating concert in New York City? Is this what Elul is all about? Spending the night in MSG?
Elul is a time for serious introspection. It’s the time we should be focusing on our relationship with Hashem, reflecting on our deeds, and preparing ourselves for the yemei hakadosh. Instead, we see people choosing to spend their night at a mixed concert.
