The leader of Neturei Karta in the United States, Moshe Dov Ber Beck, died on Thursday night. He was 87. Beck was a fixture at every anti-Israel event in the Tri-State area for years, easily recognizable as he wore a Yerushalmi bekesha every day. There was no statement released by the terrorist regime in Iran where Beck was a welcomed figure among the highest levels of Government. Beck was born in Budapest, Hungary. His early childhood was spent hiding with his brother from Nazi persecution until 1945, when Soviet troops took Budapest. In 1948, he migrated to Bnei Brak, Israel, where he began yeshiva studies. In 1959, he married, and at that time joined Neturei Karta, leaving Vizhnitz of which he had formerly been a part.

YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of HaRav Yisroel Pinchas Halevi Gornish ZATZAL. He was 79. The Niftar was the long time Mora D’asra of the Shul he founded around 40 years ago, Khal Chizuk Hadas, located on Avenue O and East 15th Street in Flatbush. He was also a well-known Rav HaMachshir in Flatbush. He is survived by his Choshuva wife and children. His wife, Rebbitzen Gornish, is the principal of Yeshiva of Brooklyn Girls School. Rabbi Gornish was sick with a Machla for some time, and the past few weeks, his condition turned worse. He was Niftar on Wednesday morning. Rabbi Dr. Zecharia H. Senter, CEO and founder of Kof-K Kosher Supervision Services, passed away on the last day of Pesach at the age of 84. Rabbi Senter was a musmach of Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchok Elchonon and a close talmid to Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik zt “l. He was also a Rav in North Bergen , N.J. and then in Teaneck where he lived for the past 50 years. Rabbi Senter maintained a close relationship with many esteemed Rabbanim including Rav Moshe Aaron Poleyeff, his wife’s grandfather, Rav Ahron Soloveitchik , whom he also considered to be his Rebbe, Rav Aaron Felder, Rav Shlomo Gissinger and many others. Rabbi Senter built the Kof-K into the internationally recognized hechsher that it is today. The Kof-K is now run by two of his sons, Rabbi Daniel and Rabbi Ari Senter.

The Lakewood community was mourning the tragic Petira of Yaakov Ben-David Z”L, 20, who was Niftar in a tragic boating accident. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa, say that the Niftar along with another victim identified as Derek Nanni, 19, both died in a boating accident in Little Wall Lake. Three other victims were saved in the incident, which involved their boat capsizing. The cause of the incident was under investigation. The Niftar was flown to Lakewood on Tuesday, and his Levaya was held at 12:15AM, Wednesday morning, at the Lakewood Bais Hakvaros on Ramsey Avenue. A terrible tragedy occurred in Israel on Wednesday with the news of the passing of Reb Meir Fein, z’l, at Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem at the age of 23, less than a year after his wedding. The niftar is the great-grandson of Rosh Yeshivas Torah V’Daas in New York, HaRav Reuven Fein, z’t, and HaRav Shlomo Zalman Sonnenfeld, z’tl. The niftar was hospitalized in critical condition after being found unconscious on Friday night hours after drinking alcohol earlier in the day on Purim and a few weeks after recovering from the coronavirus. However, according to a B’Chadrei Chareidim report, Meir drank only a moderate amount of alcohol on Purim 12 hours before he collapsed. According to doctors, he may have suffered a post-coronavirus heart attack, exacerbated by his drinking.

We are saddened to report the petira of Yankel Furst A’H of Boro Park. He was 74 years old. A fixture of the Boro Park and Flatbush communities for over 5 decades, Yankel spent incalculable hours at different minyanim and simchos daily getting to know and affect thousands. He was a gentle and spirited soul, always with a quick quip and smile. He affectionately referred to himself as “Ich Bin De Mechitan” when approaching people at a Chasuna, and over time he became known by that moniker. He was a frequent shabbos guest at many prominent homes over the last 50 years – always ready with a compliment and good word. He was an only child and lost his father when he was very young and was raised by his mother.

Mrs. Devorah Broiner, a’h, passed away of the coronavirus at Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer on Motzei Shabbos at the age of 45. The nifteres, a resident of Bnei Brak and a mother of eight, was the principal of a Chassidish high school for girls in Ganei Hadar in Petach Tikvah. She began to feel unwell about a month and a half ago and tested positive for COVID-19. She was hospitalized after she began experiencing breathing difficulties but her condition continued to deteriorate and she was sedated and ventilated and attached to an ECMO machine. Rav Roth suffered a massive heart attack at around 8:00AM Sunday morning. Boro Park Hatzolah rushed to the scene and did all they could to save his life. Unfortunately, he was Niftar at around 8:30AM. Rav Roth was known as the Karlsburger Rov. He lead a venerated beis hora’ah in Boro Park, and was one of leading Poskim in the world today. He served as the Posek for many organizations such as Misaskim. He was a Mechaber of many Seforim, including Emek HaTeshuvah (nine volumes), Chezkas Taharah Hilchos Niddah, Emek Shmaatsa Gemara, Chazon Yechezkel on Drush, Mishpat Ha’aretz on Shmittah, Keren HaTorah Ribbis, Mai Chanukah on Hilchos Chanukah and other works.
