Sometimes, I feel like I’m in a dream. Running after something invisible. Running, running, but as far as I run, it’s always ahead. There are times when I get so close, and then, once again, it’s just out of reach. Do you know that feeling too? My name is Ariella. I’m 17 years old, and I was born with Goldenhar Syndrome. Most people have never heard of it, and I hope that you’ll never have to know more than I’m telling you right now… I was born with only one ear, with the left side of my face paralyzed until my jaw. I’ve been through a lot in my 17 years. Much more than most kids my age. Right after I was born, my dad told my mom that if she brings me home from the hospital, he’ll leave her because he doesn’t want such a child. It was him or me.

Producing food items in 2022 is more complex than it has ever been. Kashrus experts attest to this fact, explaining that manufacturing and producing food is incredibly multifaceted and complicated, and the application of halacha in this day and age is therefore also more difficult than it’s ever been. At the same time, whether due to Covid or other circumstances, there has been a proliferation of home-based businesses serving the frum community.

We are fortunate to live in a country that grants us religious freedom. And yet, there are constant reminders that we are in galus. One hundred years ago, Agudath Israel of America was founded with the backing of the Gedolei Yisrael.

In an ironic way, the outbreak of the war in Ukraine- which caused one of the greatest refugee crises in a century- has turned Year 5782 into a banner year for being there for each other in an unprecedented manner. When the crisis hit, it became clear that the establishment of an organized, well-funded, and streamlined rescue effort was of paramount importance. Time that our brethren in Ukraine simply couldn’t afford. Thankfully, we had (and have) the Agudah– an existing infrastructure consisting of a professional, skillful, and devoted staff- trusted by the public and with the complete confidence of the gedolim who were able to take the reins.

After a physically draining and emotionally exhausting half a year, the Kleinerman family, still searching for their son Moishi, will stop for a minute to celebrate the Bar Mitzvah of Moishi’s only brother, Shlomi. Barring a miracle, this will not be an easy event. The Bar Mitzvah boy has already released a heartbreaking song in which he expressed his longing for his brother: “Moishi, where in the world are you?” he sang. Understandably, the terribly anxious parents didn’t have much time and energy for planning and producing the event. And so, to bring some joy to the entire family, social activist Ariel Elharar used his Twitter account to appeal to musicians who are willing to volunteer at the Bar Miitzvah. “Friends, we need you help”, began the appeal.
