Following the visit of Foreign Minister Eli Cohen to Ukraine last week, a video was revealed on Motzei Shabbos of Cohen speaking to HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein about his trip. Earlier this month, Cohen had visited HaRav Edelstein the day after he returned from his historical trip to Sudan, and had apparently consulted with the Rosh Yeshivah about his upcoming trip to Ukraine. Cohen asked HaRav Edelstein if the Rosh Yeshivah has a message to convey to the Jewish kehillah in Ukraine.

A Jewish father and son were left shaken on motzei shabbos after antisemitic bile was spewed at them as they were walking home from Avos U’Banim. Sources tell YWN that the pair were barely 100 feet from the Manhattan Beach Shtiebel when an unknown individual began yelling unpublishable insults and slurs against Jews from inside a nearby playground. The father and son hastened their pace, but the verbal attacks followed them down the block. The incident has left many in the community on edge, with some Orthodox Jewish residents afraid of what might happen next. “Incidents such as these have become commonplace in Brighton Beach,” one anxious resident told YWN.

A new report states that Iran is working on “mapping” Jewish communities outside of Israel to unleash an assassination campaign in the event Israel attacks its nuclear facilities. The plan, which was reportedly unveiled at a top-secret meeting in Tehran, involved identifying important Jewish figures around the world, as well as how and where to attack them. The dastardly plot was revealed to Catherine Perez-Shakdam, a Jewish woman who was granted an audience with Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini, who told her  “the diaspora would have a very nasty surprise” if Israel attacked them. The Iranian leader did not know she was Jewish. “He believes Netanyahu’s threats and he knows that, for now, Israel is militarily superior,” she says.

In good news from Shaare Tzedek Hospital on Thursday, Rosa Azilov, 64, who was shot during the Neve Yaakov terror attack that occurred near her home on Friday night about three weeks ago, was released from the hospital. Rosa was taking a walk with her daughter Tali when she was shot in her arm and leg. She then came face to face with the terrorist, and her life was saved by a neis when the terrorist told her that he “doesn’t shoot women” (and then proceeded to shoot and kill a different woman). In addition, Rosa’s daughter protected her with her own body. When paramedics arrived at the scene, she was evacuated to Shaare Tzedek Hospital in moderate condition, with fractures in the bones of her limbs.
