Being in the field of shidduchim is time-consuming and, more often than not, thankless. Phone calls, emails, meetings, ensuring the two sides are in sync from the first date, and the myriad details that go into the making of a shidduch keep a shadchan’s plate (and inbox) full.

The talmidim of Yeshivas Brisk on Rechov Press in Yerushalayim were terrorized on leil Shabbos Kodesh, when at nearly 1 a.m. an Arab entered the yeshiva building and began to smach everything he saw.
The Arab went up to the bais medrash, where several young men were still learning late into the night. He began throwing seforim and shtenders, and breaking the candles on the amud.
Later, the Arab roamed through all the floors of the building, throwing things everywhere, but did not touch any of the yeshiva bochurim, most of whom had fled in fair.

The eighth annual report on the Torah public by the Israel Democracy Institute found a clear trend of improvement in the quality of life.
The change was due to a significant increase in the employment rate of the sector’s women and a renewed rise in the employment rate of men after several years of stagnation. The prosperity was reflected in higher incomes, lower poverty rates, and increased homeownership and car ownership.
The community numbers 1,335,000 people, 13.6% of the total population. The proportion of people up to age 19 was 58%, compared to 31% in the general Jewish public.
