House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is getting heat over a solo hair salon visit in San Francisco at a time when California businesses are limited by concern over coronavirus. But Pelosi’s spokesman said she was was complying with the rules as presented to her by eSalon. “This business offered for the Speaker to come in on Monday and told her they were allowed by the city to have one customer at a time in the business,” said spokesman Drew Hammill in a statement. “The Speaker complied with the rules as presented to her by this establishment.” Footage aired by Fox News Channel shows Pelosi, her mask around her neck rather than on her face, walking through the establishment. Members of the Israeli-US delegation in the United Arab Emirates joined the local Jewish community for Shacharis on Tuesday morning at its shul in Abu Dhabi. Rav Levi Duchman, the leader of the local Jewish community and the only resident Rav in the UAE, led the tefillos. Also present at Shacharis was Solly Wolf, the head of the Dubai Jewish community, and Attorney Ross Kriel, the president of the Jewish Council of the Emirates (JCE), as well as other prominent businessmen in the Emirates. They were joined by Meir Ben-Shabbat, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s National Security Adviser, the head of the Israeli delegation, and religious Israeli journalists who are reporting on the historic trip.

Three people were killed and several were injured on Monday morning in two explosions in the United Arab Emirates hours before the arrival of the US-Israeli peace delegation to the country. One blast occurred in the capital city of Abu Dhabi at the Kentucky Fried Chicken and Hardees restuarants, which are located on Rashid Saeed Street, also called the airport road, since it is the main road leading to the airport, where the US-Israeli delegation landed on Monday afternoon. The explosion killed two people, injured several others and caused extensive damage to both restaurants as well as adjacent businesses. The second explosion was in Dubai, where a gas cylinder exploded in a restaurant early Monday morning, killing one and damaging the ground floor of the building.

Multiple children were rescued from a house fire in Boro Park on Monday afternoon. Hatzolah and the FDNY received numerous calls reporting a house fire at 928 51st Street, just off of 9th Ave at around 6:30PM. Arriving emergency personnel found a group of six children trapped on the back porch, and fast-acting Hatzolah volunteers (Units B-270 and B-59) immediately grabbed a ladder and began taking the children down – before the FDNY arrived. The fire was on the first floor of a 3 story private home. The cause of the fire was unknown. The historic El Al first-ever direct commercial flight bearing the US-Israeli peace delegation landed in Abu Dhabi at 2:38 p.m. Israeli time (3:38 p.m. local time). The flight also made history by flying over Saudi airspace, shortening the flight by almost four hours. “The duration of the flight with the shortened route over Saudi Arabia will be three and a half hours, instead of what would have been approximately eight hours as we fly eastbound,” El Al pilot Tal Becker said prior to takeoff. “At the end of this historic nonstop flight, the wheels of this aircraft, with the flag of the State of Israel on its tail, will touch down on the runway in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.

Tens of thousands of demonstrators rallied Sunday in the Belarusian capital of Minsk to begin the fourth week of daily protests demanding that the country’s authoritarian president resign. The protests began after an Aug. 9 presidential election that protesters say was rigged but that election officials say gave President Alexander Lukashenko a sixth term in office. Protesters initially tried to gather at Independence Square in Minsk, but barriers and riot police blocked it off. They then streamed down one of the capital’s main avenues, past hulking olive-green prisoner transport vehicles. Police detained some marchers and forced them into the transports. Police said 125 people were arrested, but Ales Bilyatsky of the Viasna human rights organization said more than 200 were detained.

A fast-moving fire left a Jewish-owned home in Monsey totally destroyed on Sunday afternoon. The fire department was on the scene at the fire on Carlton Lane in the Viola neighborhood at around 12:30PM. The fire spread quickly through the home. Bichasdei Hashem, no residents were injured in the blaze. Rockland Hatzolah was on the scene standing by in case their services were needed. A group of about a dozen Breslover chassidim who landed in Kiev, Ukraine from London on Sunday were forced to reboard the plane for a return flight to the UK. In a video of the incident, a group of chassidim are seen being escorted onto the Ryanair flight by Ukrainian security officials. On Friday, about 300 Breslover chassidim from Israel, the US and Europe, who were detained at Ukrainian airports due to the country’s ban on foreign nationals were released shortly before the onset of Shabbos following extensive efforts by Israeli politicians.
