Fire crews were called to the scene of a blaze at the Chabad Center for Jewish Life at 2317 Vermont street at 2:45 Wendsday morning. Firefighters vented the roof after finding flames coming from a second floor attic. It took crews about 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze that left “extensive damage” according to officials. The Chabad Center is led by Rabbi Moshe and Devorah Wilhelm, who said that thankfully, no one was in the building at the time the fire broke out, and that the Torah scrolls had been removed from the building a few months back due to COVID closure, according to ColLive.com This incident comes following another fire that was reported at around 10:30 on Friday night.

A Jewish mother and her 6 children flying from Orlando to Newark Airport were thrown off the plane over a mask issue involving a toddler. The father tells YWN that the mom and 5 of the children were all masked-up as they headed home to Flatbush, Brooklyn, but their youngest child – two years old, was not wearing a mask. A flight attendant requested that the child wear a mask, but the mother explained that there is no way the child will wear one. More importantly, the mother also explained to the flight attendant that according to the JetBlue policy, her child was not even required to wear a mask.

An Israeli Border Police Officer was stabbed in a terror attack in Jerusalem’s old City on Monday evening. Police say it happened near the Lions’ Gate. Magen David Adom say the border guard, 19, sustained a number of stab wounds and was taken in moderate, stable condition to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center for treatment. United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Yechiel Stern, who was among the first responders at the scene of the incident relayed: “The young man was suffering from a stab wound. Together with other EMS personnel at the scene, I treated him for his injuries, after which he was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center for further treatment and care.

Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and a White House senior adviser, said he has “no fear” about sending his own children back to school for in-person learning for the upcoming academic year, even as the coronavirus has forced students and staff in some school districts already back in session into quarantine. “This virus impacts people in different ways,” Kushner said in an interview with “Face the Nation.” “We know a lot more now than we did, and assuming — our school is not opening up five days a week, I wish they were — but we absolutely will be sending our kids back to school, and I have no fear in doing so.” Kushner and his wife, Ivanka Trump, send their children to a Jewish day school in Washington, according to the New York Times.

A stolen SUV crashed into an MTA bus, sparking a chain-reaction crash that injured 14 people in Brooklyn Thursday evening, police said. The tan Toyota Highlander slammed into the occupied MTA bus after driving through a stop sign near East 87th Street and Avenue M in Canarsie around 6 p.m., the New York Post reported.
