MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton and others are denouncing former President Trump for his utilization of “racially insensitive” and “aggressive” language. This includes the deployment of a term that many interpret as a veiled substitute for the “N word”. In response to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s fresh indictment, which comprises 13 charges related to election crimes, Trump retaliated by venting his frustration on social media, targeting “RIGGERS!” This fits into his ongoing pattern of launching a barrage of assaults against the legal challenges he confronts. During the Thursday morning broadcast of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Rev.

President Biden maintained a stoic silence on Sunday when confronted with inquiries about the escalating death toll from the devastating Maui wildfire. The blaze, which stands as the most lethal wildfire in the US in over a century, has claimed the lives of 96 individuals as of late Sunday. The President’s lack of empathy was evident as he chose not to respond to queries while basking on a beach near his Delaware residence following a few hours spent on Rehoboth beach. Bloomberg journalist Justin Sink recounted the scene on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter, where he reported, “‘No comment,’ he said before heading home.” Sink, who also shared an image of the 80-year-old Biden leisurely situated with a group in the background, further provided context.

Once a low-profile businessman who benefited from having President Vladimir Putin as a powerful patron, Yevgeny Prigozhin moved into the global spotlight with Russia’s war in Ukraine. As the leader of a mercenary force who depicts himself as fighting many of the Russian military’s toughest battles in Ukraine, the 62-year-old Prigozhin has now moved into his most dangerous role yet: preaching open rebellion against the leadership of the country’s military. Prigozhin, owner of the Kremlin-allied Wagner Group, has escalated what have been months of scathing criticism of Russia’s conduct of the war by calling Friday for an armed uprising to oust the defense minister. Russian security services reacted immediately, opening a criminal investigation and urging Prigozhin’s arrest.

The massive Adirei Hatorah event was held on Sunday night, but the event is still fresh in our minds, as tens of thousands gathered at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia to celebrate and honor BMG’s lomdei torah, with thousands more joining live via video and audio hookups of the event. The event, the second from the monumental Adirei Hatorah initiative spearheaded by philanthropist R’ Lazer Scheiner, was attended by numerous Rabbanim and Roshei Yeshiva, including Rav Dov Landau shlit”a and Rav Meir Tzvi Bergman shlit”a, who received a psak allowing him to attend despite the petirah of his, R’ Ezriel zt”l, this past Thursday. Yeshivos and Bais Yaakovs in Brooklyn have reached an unprecedented consensus to begin the 2023-2024 school year around the start of Elul, rather than with the secular start date of Labor Day. Torah U’Mesorah also requested that “other communities consider joining this movement and working together on this important chinuch issue.” The move comes after a coordinated effort by Torah U’Mesorah, supported by zkan roshei yeshivos HaRav Shmuel Kamenetzky shlit”a, to schedule the start of their school year around Rosh Chodesh Elul rather than Labor Day, which would leave talmidim and talmidos little time to be educated about the Yamim Noraim and Sukkos.

The Chareidi sector, including senior politicians, have called for a boycott of Angel Bakery following the bizayon haTorah due to the protest outside the home of HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein on Thursday morning as part of the nationwide protests for “National Equality Day.” Former Labor politician and public security minister Omer Bar-Lev, who is now the chairman of the board of directors of Angel Bakery, took part in the protest. He then published a photo of himself: “I’m now in Bnei Brak with Brothers In Arms. And what’s the connection between the coup d’état and equality of the burden?

The House Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday issued a shocking subpoena to the Department of Justice on Wednesday: a demand for a specific file that a whistleblower claims shows incontrovertible evidence that Joe Biden was linked to a “criminal scheme” that involved “money for policy decisions.” “We have received legally protected and highly credible unclassified whistleblower disclosures,” Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Senate Budget Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

An El Al pilot infuriated some passengers on a flight from Israel to New York on Tuesday when he made a political statement over the public address system. The pilot announced [in Hebrew and English]: “I want to mention Holocaust Day because things like this can only happen in a dictatorship and the State of Israel is fighting for its democracy these days.” El Al Airlines issued a statement in response to the incident, saying: “El Al Airlines condemns political statements of any kind by any of its personnel as part of their work and certainly not on its planes, which cannot be a platform for this type of activity. The company instructs that it be avoided, especially on such a sensitive and significant day for Am Yisrael.

Iran’s president on Friday delivered an unprecedented speech to an annual pro-Palestinian rally in the Gaza Strip — a display of Iran’s importance to the Hamas militant group that rules the territory. In a virtual address to hundreds of supporters of Hamas and the smaller Islamic Jihad group gathered at a soccer field, Ebrahim Raisi urged Palestinians to press on with their struggle against Israel. “The initiative to self-determination is today in the hands of the Palestinian fighters,” Raisi said, dismissing Hamas’ domestic political rival, the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority, which has long sought to win Palestinian statehood through negotiations with Israel. The Palestinian Authority administers autonomous enclaves in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

A bus carrying 32 Israeli tourists in South Korea overturned on Thursday, killing an Israeli woman and injuring 31 others. Two of the victims were critically injured, five were seriously injured, and 24 were lightly injured. The driver told the police that the accident was caused by a mechanical failure in the gearbox. Israel’s ambassador to South Korea Akiva Tor is assisting the victims and their families. Representatives from the Israeli Embassy in Seoul are visiting the victims at the four hospitals they are being treated at. The passengers are reportedly Israelis in their 60s and 70s and are mainly native Russian speakers. (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)
