A terrorist opened fire on a car in which a woman was driving with her four daughters in Shomron on Monday evening. In footage of the attack, a volley of gunfire can be heard followed by the mother shouting hysterically to her daughters: “Bend down, bend down. Girls, are you okay?” In a neis, no one in the car was injured despite the fact that two bullet holes were later found in the car. After ensuring her daughters weren’t injured, the mother reported the shooting and continue driving until she reached security forces who were waiting for her near Kfar Jama’in. IDF forces launched a manhunt for the terrorists who had escaped the scene.

Misaskim of London held a beautiful hachnosas sefer torah on Sunday, ten years after R’ Yanky Meyer z”l first established the UK arm of the organization. Thousands of London residents joined in the festivities, which served as a tribute and aliyas neshama for R’ Yanky z”l. The sefer torah was written at the height of Covid based on the segulah of the Baal Shem Tov, with Sunday’s procession bringing it to Misaskim headquarters in the Golders Green section of London. Misaskim of London members tell YWN that despite being thousands of miles away, R’ Yanky z”l was of constant assistance to its members and served as guided the branch through countless trying times. R’ Yanky z”l was to be the guest of honor at Sunday’s hachnosas sefer torah.

The reports in recent days of rampant incitement against Chareidim and religion could convey an impression as if those are the feelings of the majority of Israelis. But in reality, there are millions of Israelis [including the millions who voted for the current government] who have warm feelings toward religion, even if not fully religious themselves. In a heartwarming display of kavod ha’Torah, IDF soldiers sang for Chief Rabbi HaRav Yosef Yitzchak, as seen in a video posted by Kikar H’Shabbat reporter Yishai Cohen. (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)

Yisrael Beiteinu head Avigdor Lieberman on Sunday morning said that “Netanyahu deserves to suffer in Gehinnom” for promising funds to Chareidi schools that don’t study the core curriculum. In an interview with Channel 12’s Keshet about the state budget, Liberman said: “What Netanyahu did, he truly deserves to suffer in Gehinnon every day to give them funds without them teaching the core curriculum. He wants to let them live in poverty without education and suffer.” The host of the show, which is on the same channel on which a TV hostess sparked an uproar on Friday when she called Chareidim “bloodsuckers” immediately condemned Lieberman’s statement about Gehinnom.

The Women of the Wall group engaged in their monthly provocation on Sunday morning, Rosh Chodesh Sivan, and tried to bring in a Sefer Torah to the Kosel plaza, which is forbidden according to Israeli law. They were stopped from doing so by the Kosel security guards. “A small group of Women of the Wall members came to the Kosel plaza and stirred up a provocation and turned the Kosel into a place of machlokes,” a statement from the Western Wall Heritage Foundation said. “A Sefer Torah was carried in and an attempt was made to bring it in a disgraceful way into the plaza.

A Tampa, Florida, resident wants elected officials to forget about the “nonsense” of homelessness and violent crime, and to instead focus on what matters: giving $3 million in reparations to every black person. “All this nonsense, homelessness, and all this other garbage y’all talk about, police violence, and all this stuff, don’t nobody care about that, though nobody real care about that – we care about our reparations, and we have to put white people on notice that we want our reparations,” Tony Daniel told the Tampa City Council. “We want our reparations. $3 million per person. $3 million per person, right here in this city. That’s the only thing black people got to care about. All this other nonsense you’re talking about. We do not care about,” he continued.

Deep-sea researchers have completed the first full-size digital scan of the Titanic, showing the entire wreck in unprecedented detail and clarity, the companies behind a new documentary on the wreck said Thursday. Using two remotely operated submersibles, a team of researchers spent six weeks last summer in the North Atlantic mapping the whole shipwreck and the surrounding 3-mile debris field, where personal belongings of the ocean liner’s passengers, such as shoes and watches, were scattered. Richard Parkinson, founder and chief executive of deep-sea exploration firm Magellan, estimated that the resulting data — including 715,000 images — is 10 times larger than any underwater 3D model ever attempted before.
