Like every year, crowds will descend upon the sukkah of the Slabodka rosh yeshiva, Rav Dov Landau, located at 15 Rechov Harav Rav Sher in Bnei Brak, during Chol Hamoed Sukkos. To accommodate the crowds, preparations have been made to ensure the safety of those entering and exiting the home.
This year, following the petiros of Rav Chaim Kanievsky and Rav Gershon Edelstein, it is expected that more people than ever with visit Rav Landau on Chol Hamoed. Consequently, concerns have arisen regarding potential safety risks.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Shlomo Golovenzitz zt”l. He was 83.
Rav Golovenzitz was a rov in the Machzikei Hadas community in Antwerp, Belgium.
Rav Golovenzitz was a son of Rav Yitzchak and Mrs. Yehudit Golovenzitz.
During his youth, Rav Golovenzitz was educated in mosdos in Yerushalayim. When he came of age, he joined the Ponevezh Yeshiva and benefited from the rabbeim there, primarily Rav Shmuel Rozovsky.
Afterward, he learned at the Kfar Chassidim Yeshiva and became close to Rav Eliyahu Lopian.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rabbi Yaakov Eliezer Friedrich zt”l, one of the eldest Lubavitcher Chassidim. He lived in Antwerp, Belgium, and passed away at the age of 102.
R’ Yankel was abandoned by his father at the age of 6 and was raised by a Catholic peasant. After many challenges, he was adopted by the Belgian Jewish community and raised in a Torah environment.
In his memoirs, “By the Hand of Hashem,” he describes how he escaped the German blitzkrieg in Antwerp and faced much danger, trials and tribulations with faith in Hashem and great mesiras nefesh. He miraculously survived the war and moved to Belgium, where he rebuilt his life.

The largest daled minim shuk (market) in Eretz Yisroel is set to open for Sukkos in Yerushalayim Valero Square, located adjacent to the Mahaneh Yehuda Shuk.
Dozens of stalls will offer esrogim, lulavim, haddassim, and aravos.

The colorful and unique market, which is being held for the 25th year, will have about 40 stalls selling high-quality daled minim, including esrogim imported from Italy and Morocco.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rebbetzin Miriam Erlanger a”h. She was 89.
Rebbetzin Erlanger was the wife of Rav Avraham Erlanger, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Kol Torah in Yerushalayim and author of the classic seforim Birkas Avraham.
The Rebbetzin was born in Germany, a daughter of Rav Chaim Yosef Jacobovits, who served as the rosh yeshiva of Frankfurt Yeshiva and as the rosh yeshiva of Kol Torah.
Upon reaching marriageable age, she wed her distinguished husband, Rav Avraham Erlanger.

An OP-ED by Yisroel Besser
At a time of year in which reminders are so important and everybody’s looking for messages, Klal Yisroel got such a heartening, refreshing reminder on Wednesday night.
Earlier this week Torah Umesorah started their annual campaign, a campaign with an ambitious goal of $10 million dollars needed to fund an umbrella organization that carries 400,000 kinderlach, in over 800 schools.
An organization that inspires, encourages, motivates, trains, and bolsters the efforts of our most precious national resource – our mechanchim and mechanchos. Not just them, but school personnel at every rung of the ladder. From Hanhallah, to lay leaders, to the staff, to the support staff, everybody benefits from the efforts and endeavors of Torah Umesorah.
