Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie predicted that Trump will go with his usual political style and not change a thing after his indictment because “he’s got no other act,” adding that he’s the only Republican that can lose to Joe Biden. “That sounded, to me, like a guy you’d encounter at a bar who you wind up sitting next to and he’s griping to you about his bad divorce. That’s what it sounded like to me,” Christie said of Trump’s speech at Mar-a-Lago after being indicted. “I don’t think most elections, in my experience, are won on the past. They are won or lost on the future,” Christie continued.

Anthony Scaramucci, Trump’s communications director (for all of 11 days) boldly suggested that Trump might fake an illness to get out of following through on his 2024 presidential campaign. Asked on CNN if he thinks additional indictments against Trump would affect the former president’s campaign, Scaramucci said: “I do think that’s going to impact him.” “It’ll be a very time-consuming. But I think the absence of his family members in this campaign is gonna knock him out of the race. He just doesn’t do well without them,” the Mooch said. “They want nothing to do with this campaign, Anderson,” he said, an apparent reference to Ivanka and Jared Kushner not being involved in the 2024 campaign, though Trump’s sons are. “And they were conspicuously absent from the courtroom.

President Joe Biden has announced on Monday that he plans to run for re-election in 2024. However, he stated that he is not yet ready to make a formal announcement regarding his candidacy for the next presidential election. In an interview with Al Roker on NBC’s “Today” show, Biden mentioned that he still had several Easter egg rolls left in him, jokingly referring to his age. He said, “I plan on running, Al, but we’re not prepared to announce it yet.” Although the 80-year-old president has frequently mentioned his intention to seek re-election for the White House, he has yet to make an official announcement. If he pursues re-election, he would become the oldest president in US history to do so.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr slammed Donald Trump as “the weakest candidate” in the 2024 GOP presidential sweepstakes and said that Democrats want him to win the nomination. “I think ultimately the savvy Democratic strategists know [Bragg’s prosecution] is going to help Trump, and they want him to be the nominee because he is the weakest of the Republican candidates, the most likely to lose again to Biden,” Barr said ABC News. “I don’t think anything’s going to happen before a nomination is made and even perhaps until the election, the 2024 election,” Barr added when asked about Trump going to prison over the 34 counts he’s been charged with by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
