The Supreme Court on Thursday appeared ready to reject Donald Trump’s sweeping claim that he is immune from prosecution on charges of trying to subvert the 2020 election, but in a way that is likely to significantly delay his stalled federal trial in the nation’s capital.
In nearly three hours of oral argument, both conservative and liberal justices grappled with the historic significance of the case, which will set boundaries for presidential power in the future even as it impacts whether Trump faces trial in D.C. before this year’s presidential election – in which he is the likely Republican nominee.
“We are writing a rule for the ages,” said Justice Neil M. Gorsuch.

“At Columbia, the protests continued, with dancing and pizza,” read a New York Times headline last week. Two days later, another headline in the Gray Lady stated, “Some Jewish students are targeted as protests continue at Columbia.”
Critics who watch the New York paper of record closely, including those with extensive experience working for the Times, noted that the paper recorded the culinary and entertainment choices of protesters, who told Jews to go back to Europe, among other antisemitic comments, and that the Times suggested only that “some” Jews felt threatened.
“Just a fun dance party with pizza and calls to exterminate the Jews! Fun!” wrote Bari Weiss, editor of the Free Press and a former columnist and op-ed editor at the Times.

I’m compelled to address a pressing issue that seems to plague our community time and time again. On Erev Yom Tov in Orlando, Florida, a group of youngsters driving a golf cart turned too quickly and flipped over, injuring several of them. This incident is not an isolated one; in fact, it’s a stark reminder […]

Abbas Kamel, the head of Egyptian intelligence, put forth a fresh proposition regarding the Hamas captives’ release to ISA director Ronen Bar and IDF Chief of Staff Hertzi Halevi during a tripartite meeting.
Ynet reported that, as per the proposal, “in exchange for the release of all captives in two stages over ten weeks, Israel would agree to halt all preparations for entering Rafah, release hundreds of Palestinian terrorists, and commit to a full ceasefire for a year during which steps to promote the establishment of a Palestinian state will be announced.”
Bar and Halevi were briefed on the proposal during the meeting but refrained from providing an immediate response.

The report also mentioned, “Israel will not announce the end of the war as part of the plan.” Additionally, it stated, “the price for the deal that Israel will pay will be very heavy, but at this stage, no further details can be published.”

After successfully thwarting Iran’s recent assault on Israel, the Nadvorna Rebbe of Eretz Yisroel urged his chassidim to express gratitude to Hashem for the myriad miracles witnessed by the Jewish people.
“While jubilation should fill our streets in acknowledgment of the miracles and benevolence bestowed upon us by Hakadosh Boruch Hu, let us, at the very least, offer our thanks to Him on this evening,” he told his chassidim on the leil haSeder.
“We should be dancing in the street after the failed attack,” he said.
The Rebbe encouraged them to undertake the completion of Shas over the next year as an expression of hoda’ah (thanks) for the remarkable Divine intervention.

Jewish NYU professor Scott Galloway called out the obvious double standard of allowing college kids on campus to spread antisemitism when hate spread about other groups would never be tolerated.

“I can tell you, if I went into the NYU square with a white hood on and said, ‘Lynch the blacks’ or ‘Burn the gays,’ my ID would be shut off by that night,” Scott Galloway, an NYU Stern School of Business professor, told MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Wednesday.

“I would never work in academia again,” he added. “There would be no need for the words ‘context’ or ‘nuance,’ I wouldn’t be protected by the First Amendment or free speech.”

While speaking at the North American Building Trades Unions 2024 Legislative Conference in Washington, DC on Wednesday, President Biden had one of his classic battles with the teleprompter.

At one point, Biden was supposed to pause so that a chant could break out but instead, he read the word “pause.”

“Four more years? Pause?” Biden read with a confused look on his face.
