Nearly all rabbonim in Chicago have issued a message to their community to only engage in and purchase food from home businesses with reputable kosher supervision.
This proclamation follows the lead of an earlier Kol Koreh signed by the leading poskim in North America outlying similar guidelines.
What is unique about the Chicago Kol Koreh is the willingness to work with any home business owner to financially help with guidelines that a Rav Hamachshir might require to meet his standards.
One common example is to help build a separate area or entrance where proper supervision can be conducted.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of the Lizhensker Rebbe, Rav Elimelech Shiff zt”l. He was 75.
The rebbe was born in Yerushalayim, a son of Rav Elazar Moshe Avrohom Shiff and was named after Rav Elimelech of Lizhensk.
In his childhood, he learned at Mosdos Belz in Yerushalayim.
He married his wife, a daughter of Rav Yitzchak Eizik Schwartz, a respected elder Belzer chossid.
After his wedding, he served as a rebbi Talmud Torah Machzikei Hadas-Belz.
About thirty years ago, he moved to the Ramot neighborhood of Yerushalayim, where he established the Lizhensker Bais Medrash.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of R’ Avrohom Moshe Melohn z”l. He was in his sixties.
R’ Avrohom was a son of Joseph and Martha Melon, whose names resonate strongly in the community due to their remarkable acts of philanthropy.
R’ Avrohom Melohn z”l followed in his parents’ footsteps, earning a reputation for having a heart filled with compassion. Those who knew him attested to his incredible generosity, quietly contributing millions of dollars to charitable causes without seeking recognition.

The issue of older singles seeking shidduchim in the United States continues to be a concern, and several roshei yeshivos have decided to do their hsihtadlus to address this phenomenon, or at least try to partially mitigate it. To this end, a delegation of roshei yeshiva from the United States will arrive in Eretz Yisroel tomorrow, Thursday, to receive the guidance and opinion of the Maran Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Slabodka, on the matter.

As first reported here on Matzav.com, Rav Binyomin Finkel, venerated mashgiach of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, is on a special visit this week to the United States.

Upon the shloshim of Maran Rav Gershon Edelstein zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ponovezh, a matzeivah was placed at the kever of the rosh yeshiva at the Ponovezh Beis HaChayim in Bnei Brak.
The wording of the matzeivah was prepared by family members, and the matzeivah was constructed by the Weiss brothers, skilled matzeivah builders who have been constructing monuments for gedolim for years.
The matzeivah reads (free translation):

As reported earlier this week on Matzav.com, upon the shloshim of Rav Gershon Edelstein zt”l, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Ponovezh, Rav Eliezer Kahaneman, nosi of the yeshiva, gathered the hanhalah together and informed them of the appointment of Rav Dovid Levi, a son-in-law of Rav Gershon and a longtime R”M in the yeshiva, as rosh yeshiva.
In addition to the daily shiur that he has been delivering for decades, Rav Dovid will now deliver a shiur klali in the yeshiva once a week.
The appointment took place after Rav Kahaneman consulted with the current senior rosh yeshiva, Rav Berel Povarsky.

Rav Binyomin Finkel, venerated mashgiach of Yeshivas Mir Yerushalayim, will be making a special visit to the United States.
From Monday, 7 Tamuz (June 26) through Monday, 14 Tamuz (July 3), the mashgiach will embark on a short but impactful chizuk trip.
During his visit, the mashgiach will dedicate most of his time to Lakewood, NJ, where he will be speaking in various yeshivos, chadarim, and shuls.
On Shabbos, the Deal community will have the zechus of hosting the mashgiach.
